South Africa's water crisis, stemming from failing infrastructure, has severe economic consequences. Key industries like agriculture, mining, and manufacturing suffer reduced productivity due to unreliable water access. This leads to job losses, failed crops, and financial strain, disproportionately affecting vulnerable communities and perpetuating poverty.

Corruption, mismanagement, and underinvestment in South Africa's water infrastructure have created a crisis. A 2021 government report revealed widespread corruption, diverting funds meant for essential upgrades. This leaves pipes rusted, treatment plants deteriorating, and communities without water. Even regulatory efforts have failed due to deeply entrenched corruption.
