REVIEW : SA construction industry commits to worker safety

In collaboration with its social partners, the Department of Employment and Labour, the United Nations agency known as the International Labour Organization (ILO), the Federated Employers Mutual Assurance Company (FEM), and the department's Compensation Fund (CF), signed a pledge and launched the Decent Work campaign. This campaign aims to uphold labor rights and ethical business practices within the construction sector.


Jens Christensen, director of the International Labour Organization (ILO), emphasized that through the Decent Work movement, partners strive to establish ecosystems that prioritize safety while simultaneously promoting investment in education and training. The ILO's objective through this campaign is to reduce workplace injuries by 50%.
