VACANCY : Estimator - Roads and Earthworks

A well-established construction company based in Durban, South Africa, seeks a highly skilled and experienced Estimator to join their team. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in leading multiple tender submissions through effective management of the estimating function.

PURPOSE:

The primary purpose of this role is to ensure the efficient and cost-effective preparation of tender submissions for various roads and earthworks projects. Key responsibilities include:

  • Managing the estimating process from tender acquisition to submission
  • Analyzing tender documents and implementing procurement processes
  • Sourcing and evaluating cost-effective materials and resources
  • Preparing accurate and competitive tender submissions within tight deadlines
  • Collaborating with stakeholders to identify cost-effective solutions
  • Obtaining feedback from site to determine market rates

EXPERIENCE

A minimum of 5 years of experience in the construction industry, with a focus on roads and earthworks projects (at least 3 years)

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Tertiary qualification in the Built Environment
  • Proven proficiency in CCS Candy estimating software
  • Strong computer literacy (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, MS Outlook)

KEY COMPETENCIES

  • Ability to acquire and analyze tender documents efficiently
  • Skilled in analyzing drawings and special requirements for tenders
  • Demonstrated ability to source quality and cost-effective materials and resources
  • Strong analytical skills for conducting comparative analyses of material suppliers and subcontractor quotations
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to consult with stakeholders and obtain feedback from site
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced team environment
