VACANCIES : Tender Engineer

An ISO certified water services provider offering solutions to water services institutions in Southern Africa is looking for a Tender Engineer.

Purpose

To support the New Projects Department and senior staff in the identification of tender opportunities; document and tender model preparation; calling for quotations, review and recommendations; tender data inputs and final compilation and other support services required from time to time

Experience required

Overall 10 years experience with Minimum 5+ years as a Site Engineer or Site Manager with practical site experience in pipeline, mechanical and electrical construction, preferably within the water sector

Required Qualifications

  • BSc / ND / BTech Mechanical Engineering or Electrical with mechanical experience
    Sound knowledge / understanding of  FIDIC, NEC contract framework, with 5 years of preparing public sector tenders experience preferred
  • Good business English ability, computer literacy on MS Office and CCS bidding system
  • Valid drivers license and willing to travel when needed to sites

Competencies Required

  • Applying/improving/updating estimating procedures and tendering packages
  • Screen / prioritize potential tenders
  • Prepare Go/No Go schedules and assign tasks
  • Review requests for proposals and quotations
  • Compile/review the costed BOQ’s and prepare / participate in the project motivation
  • Carry out post evaluations of tender results
  • Prepare / present documentation to the contract implementation team
  • Provide support to the construction teams and conduct on-site contract performance assessments
  • Mentor, train, and support staff
  • Maintain ISO procedures at high level
  • Maintain relations with potential suppliers
  • Costing of variation orders
  • Draft sub-contract agreements with potential partners
